Komen for the Cure

Komen for the CureA woman faces many special concerns that call for heightened awareness about her health. This is especially true for breast care. Breast cancer is today’s second leading cause of cancer death in American women. Lung cancer is the first. While research continues to seek ways to prevent, detect, and treat this disease, it is essential to stay informed to make smart decisions about your health. Healthy Connections has recently received funding from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Arkansas Foundation to start a program that helps provide mammograms.

Do not let finances prevent the care that you need!

The program supports mammograms for low-income women who have no insurance or where mammograms are non-covered services due to high deductibles. This program allows uninsured and underinsured women who are ineligible for the Arkansas Medicaid Breast Care Program to receive Screening Mammograms and Bilateral Diagnostic Mammograms based on need determined by Healthy Connections Inc providers.

Recent experience indicates the need for more tests at an earlier age. Through early detections, three Healthy Connections, Inc. patients in their 30s have been tested, diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer. If you have not had a mammogram in the past twelve months, if you have found a lump, have a family history of breast cancer or if you have questions or concerns about your health, please call the HCI’s Mena location. The best protection is early detection!
