Vision for the future

Court Appointed Special Advocates for children is a national organization founded to help children who have been removed from their homes due to allegations of abuse or neglect.

When these children are placed in foster care, a trained volunteer (30 hours of inital training) is assigned to the child/children and the volunteer's main mission is to keep the child's best interests in the forefront of everyone's mind.

The volunteer maintains contact with all the people important in the life of the child and represent the child's wishes to the court system. The volunteer can help keep DHHS, attorneys, parents and judges centered on the child's needs, and cognizant of timelines.

The volunteer can also look out for the child's needs during transitions from home to foster care as it relates to schools, daycare, clothing needs, etc.

CASA is always looking for a few good-hearted people who care about kids and are willing to give a couple hours per week to be that stability in the life of a foster child.

If you are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer, please contact Cindi Hernandez - Program Manager - with the information to the left.
